Pink Iclenad

From Iceland, with love
Pink Iceland owners (from left): Hannes, Eva María & Birna Hrönn
Pink Iceland is Iceland’s first and foremost gay owned and operated travel expert and your first stop when traveling to Iceland. Pink Iceland was founded by lesbian couple Eva María & Birna in March 2011 and in early 2012 their friend Hannes joined forces and the trio now owns and runs the company together with love. Pink Iceland works for and with the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) community and specializes in day tours (gay tours), weddings, international and domestic events and festivals as well as organizing tailor-made luxury travel. With decades of combined experience in the tourism industry we guarantee a professional service, but perhaps more importantly a personal one. We at Pink Iceland pick our partners carefully, making sure our guests experience Iceland at its best and friendliest.

Pink Iceland offers a free booking service* and welcomes enquiries about LGBT life in Iceland.

By booking with Pink Iceland you will have a gay friendly experience through its partners which are either gay owned, gay operated or gay friendly. Pink Iceland will make sure to give you all the inside information in the Icelandic LGBT community you’ll need and some great added value. With
this Icelandic velvet mafia’s great cooperation we hope to make your stay unforgettable, and we celebrate the fact that you are supporting the Pink Pound.

*HONESTY POLICY
Pink Iceland is a privately owned company and as such it needs to make a profit. This profit pays the salaries of its staff, the rent, the wonderful and informative Pink Iceland website not to mention copious amounts of coffee for the owners. Most of Pink Iceland’s money is made through commissions. This is how it works: If our guests let us book their tours, activities, and accommodation we collect a small (usually 10-15%) commission of the price. This basically means that you pay the same price, regardless of whether you book directly – or through us. You may think this might cause us to recommend really expensive accommodation and tours. Not so. We promise to do our utmost to come up with a plan that suits you, and your budget. We would never recommend anything without full confidence and/or personal experience of what’s on offer. Our primary goal is working with and for the LGBTQI community and without the community’s support or goodwill we wouldn’t have lasted six months in the business. It is not least through word of mouth that we grow stronger every day. Our hope is that after reading this you too will ask for our recommendations and advice and/or book your holiday through us.

Innovation Award in 2012
Pink Iceland received the 2012 Innovation award from the Travel Industry Association. The award was presented to us by the President of Iceland.

IGLTA member
Pink Iceland is a proud member of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association and takes proactively part in their work.

Goecco Eco Tours

Whether you go on one of our hikes, day-tours, or private tours we’ll show you the real Iceland: the serene, the thunderous, the quaint, and the surreal. Goecco is about experiencing Iceland off the beaten track on our down-to-earth tours, guided by real men and women.

As we are huge fans of the peaceful, beautiful Iceland we often follow the winding road to the places others don’t go. And when we do go the popular spots, we make an effort to be there during ‘quiet’ times. As we go along we throw in a bit of good music, local food and just enjoy real people talking to real people!

We are known for finding new places and inventing new tours. We don’t work with big corporations, agents or booking engines. We work with local people, finding new places to sleep, eat and experience Iceland.

We make an effort to work with likeminded people, who love and respect nature and other human beings. We don’t choose our guides from their guide school certificate but from their life experience and personality.

So if you want a big, fancy tour bus going from sterile photo opportunity to photo opportunity, we are not for you – but if you are looking for a road trip with good friends – come along with an open heart and a generous spirit!

OK Adventure

OK Adventure is an independent family company that specializes in small-group tours. The company gets its name from the Ok mountain, the smallest glacier in Iceland.

Whether you are an independent traveler, a family on a new adventure or friends out to explore the world, OK Adventure has something for everyone. Each tour has a maximum number of 8-9 people, which allows for expeditions to be not only unique but also a personalized experience.

We offer a wide range of day tours to choose from and several  multi-day tours, including  a 4-day hiking tour through the Hellismannaleið trail. We also have options for visits to Icelandic horse farms and training centers and horseback riding.

OK Adventure is pleased to offer customized tours. With your own “custom tour”, you can choose from different options to create your perfect excursion.

For your comfort we recommend that you bring warm clothing, rain gear, swimwear and hiking boots when travelling in Iceland.

To us at OK Adventure, it is important to preserve the nature we enjoy. We strive to minimize the negative effects tourism can have on the environment by encouraging our tourists to stay on marked footpaths, not to litter and preferably, refrain from smoking while on the tour.

Your Day Tours team

We are so lucky to have the best of the best in our team. As we are only doing these tours on mini busses we have driverguides in all our tours. We always put safety in first place but then we also try to be fun, kind, informative and helpful.

We play a lot of Icelandic music and tell you stories and jokes about Iceland and Icelanders. All the members of our team are getting great reviews on Tripadvisor, Facebook and all the sites that sell our tours.

Our vehicles

We operate all tours on a new Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2016 or 2015 model with free WiFi on board.

We also give you a little taste of icelandic snack.

We are only doing small groups so there will never be more than 19 passenger on the bus.

About Icelandic Horses

For more than a thousand years, from the settlement of t

he country in the late 9th century to the early 20th century, the small but amazingly strong Icelandic horse has played a vital role in Icelandic history. Dubbed “The most useful servant”, many Icelanders credit the horse for the survival of the Icelandic people. The settlers brought with them horses from Norway and the British Isles, strong and muscular they served their masters in war and peace.

In recorded Icelandic history, which spans over 900 years, no horses have been imported to Iceland. In the 11th century import was made illegal, so the present day horse is very similar to what they were 900 years ago. This isolation has preserved certain traits lost to other European horses. Among these are the five gaits the horse is famous for.

In Iceland these gaits are used depending on terrain and preference of the rider. While most horses have three gaits: walk, trot and gallop, the Icelandic horse has two extra gates. Icelanders call them tolt and skeid (pace), with the tolt gate being better known throughout the world. The tolt is a gait in a quartered beat with equal intervals and is a gait that, with unaltered footfall can escalate its swiftness from a mere step to great speed. You can hear the tolt distinctly as a constant four-beat staccato and if you watch a horse in tolt you can see that the horse carries the rider smoothly in an even four-beated rythim, perfectly still in his saddle, without the tossing movement of the trot.
